I was recently honoured to be invited to present at the Bag-Budissa GmbH World Dealer Conference at their headquarters near Bautzen.

My presentation focused on our UK experience using thickness-reduced silage films, drawing on practical, on-farm results with Ultra silage bags and Silo2block® oxygen barrier film. We explored customers’ initial concerns around downgauging, why thickness reduction matters both economically and environmentally, and the clear sustainability benefits of using less plastic without compromising performance.

Most importantly, we shared real-world proof that thickness reduction is safe and proven: Ultra bags have performed reliably across multiple crops and bag diameters, while Silo2block® clearly demonstrates that effective oxygen control is far more important than sheer thickness. Confidence ultimately comes from results in the field — and that’s exactly what we continue to see.
